Welcome Initiative

We would like to welcome new members to the SBN community with the second annual Welcome Initiative. Funding through the Welcome Initiative will provide membership and conference registration for the SBN 2022 Annual Meeting to NEW first-time SBN members from historically marginalized and/or underrepresented backgrounds in the sciences (see NOT-OD-20-031: Notice of NIH's Interest in Diversity).

Eligibility and selection criteria will include:

  • Must be a graduate student and/or postdoc participating in research

  • A short paragraph (250 words max.) indicating (1) career stage (student or postdoc) and institution, (2) confirmation of first time SBN membership, (3) description of interests within behavioral neuroendocrinology and (4) need for financial assistance with registration 

  • It is encouraged, but not required, that applicants submit an abstract to the SBN 2022 Annual Meeting as primary or contributing author. The abstract should be related to either behavioral neuroendocrinology research or diversity and inclusion efforts.

Awardees will receive SBN membership for one year AND registration waiver to attend the 2022 SBN meeting in Atlanta.  Awardees will be expected to attend all sessions, including the DEI Keynote Lecture and workshop, and will be featured at the DEI social and on social media.
